ABOUT US
African Arts Academy is a San Francisco-based, non-profit performing arts and cultural education organization dedicated to preserving and celebrating the arts, music, fashion, gastronomy, and cultural heritage of Africa and the African Diaspora.
Founded by artist and cultural entrepreneur Fely Tchaco, the Academy creates programs, events, and community experiences that connect people to African creativity in meaningful ways. Through performance, education, storytelling, and cultural exchange, African Arts Academy helps keep heritage alive while inspiring new generations to learn, participate, and take pride in their roots.
Our work is rooted in cultural preservation, artistic excellence, community-building, and the belief that African traditions are not only part of history, they are living, evolving expressions of identity, knowledge, and belonging.

OUR MISSION

We build platforms for artists, youth, and cultural leaders while creating spaces where tradition, innovation, and community can grow together.

WHY IT MATTERS
Fely Tchaco
Art Connoisseur
African Arts Academy matters because culture is more than performance, it is identity, memory, and belonging. Through African dance, music, fashion, storytelling, and cultural education, the Academy helps preserve traditions that connect people to their roots and give future generations a deeper understanding of where they come from.
In a world where many cultural stories are forgotten, simplified, or underrepresented, African Arts Academy creates space for African and African Diaspora heritage to be seen, taught, and celebrated with dignity. Its work allows artists, students, families, and communities to experience African creativity not as history alone, but as a living, evolving force.
Supporting African Arts Academy means supporting cultural preservation, arts education, and community impact. Every program, performance, event, and partnership helps keep African heritage alive while creating new opportunities for learning, expression, connection, and pride.
